E-Consultations
E-consultations involve asking for comment on a particular issue and allowing people to provide their responses via an online form.
The call for comment can be open to the public, or by invitation only providing a password to access the consultation site. Background information about the consultation will usually be provided.
E-consultations generally involve setting up a special-purpose page and form on a website, or a special discussion forum. A ‘stand alone’ e-consultation might have its own internet address as well.
Once an easy-to-use web page has been set up with a simple form to be filled in, the success of the consultation will depend on generating publicity and encouraging people to use it.
